Services Available
to you and your family

Medical
You will be allocated a GP if your present doctor cannot look after you when at Healey House.

Key Care System
Assistance with your basic needs (such as washing & dressing) can be arranged by our social care staff. You can choose when and how many times you wish to bathe and assistance can be provided.

Call Bell System
These are installed in all rooms and on admission you will be shown how to use them.

Meals
On arrival, our cook will come and chat with you to find out your likes and dislikes. We aim to please!
Breakfast - choose from a range of cereals, cooked items, toast or bread & butter.
Lunch - A set menu providing 2 choices.
Evening meal - A light set meal.
If it is not to your taste, the cook will prepare something else for you. Drinks & snacks are available at any time.
Residents can invite family & friends - you must give the cook adequate notice, and a small donation would be much appreciated.

Visiting
Visitors are welcome at any time of the day, but we do ask if they could avoid meal times (12:30-13:00 and 17:30-18:30).
If you wish to visit after 8pm, please call in advance to let the night staff know that you are coming.
You are welcome to make use of the lounges, dining room and patio. Please let a carer know when you are leaving the building.
Dogs must not be allowed to roam freely under any circumstances and should be strictly controlled.

Transport
HRVAB has voluntary car drivers which can be arranged to collect and return individuals from special appointments. Normal hospital visiting should be arranged through the ambulance service.
Minibuses are available for organised outings.
Private care hire and taxis must be paid for by the Resident.

Reading material
Newspapers, magazines and library books are available or can be ordered on your behalf and delivered every day. Residents are responsible for payment.

Mail
Mail is delivered Monday - Saturday and is handed out each morning. If you have a letter to post, please hand it to your carer.

Telephone
If you wish to have a private landline phone connected to your room, please speak to the home manager who will discuss your requirements.

Chiropody
Our private Chiropodist visits every 6 weeks/3 months depending on need. The NHS Chiropodist visits every 3 months. The will usually set up in The Taplin Centre (adjoined to Healey House and run by HRVAB) but can visit in your room if required.

Counselling
In collaboration with HRVAB, we hope to soon be able to offer free counselling to our clients and their immediate family.

Hairdressing
The Taplin Centre (adjoined to Healey House and run by HRVAB) has a hair salon - ‘The Hairport’. Accounts are to be paid directly to the hairdresser or we can pay it on your behalf.

Television
Televisions are available to have in your room. We have televisions in the lounge areas for Residents’ general use. Residents may bring their own if they wish to do so.
